CONCLUSION:  Sarah, Plain and Tall gives you the opportunity to put yourself in the place of one of the characters and take a journey with them between Maine and Kansas during the end of the 19th Century.  Students can compare how life was then to how life is in the present day and also compare the difference between the ocean lifestyle and the life on the prairie.  Students also have the opportunity to delve into science explorations to learn about wildflowers and seashells, social studies explorations to learn about life in the past, and fine arts explorations as you illustrate your journals.
